Blue Mass

The Annual Blue Mass was held at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church to honor and thank all police officers, firefighters, EMS and Military personnel for their courage and service.

In 1934 the first Blue Mass was started by Father Thomas Dade in Baltimore, Maryland. About 1,000 policemen and firemen marched in uniform into St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Washington D.C. This was the marking of an annual tradition in the Northeastern cities of the United States and has spread to every state. Now we honor and celebrate those who serve by hosting a Blue Mass once a year.

"It was an honor and privilege to honor the men and women in uniform at the Blue Mass as they show courage and bravery every day. We truly rely on their efforts to keep our community safe and can't thank them enough," said Parish President Natalie Robottom.

A blessing for protection of police cars, fire trucks, and ambulances followed the mass and lunch was also served.
