Seniors Painting Class
On Thursday, December 4, 2014, the St. John Recreation Department introduced a Seniors Painting Class. This class was held at the Council on Aging building in Reserve. Eleven participants were introduced to acrylic painting on canvas board. The instructor, Dahlia Tate-Rainey, took time to explain the proper technique of using the paint and paint brushes to get a spectacular look. The introductory painting was titled “the Kat”. The seniors were very receptive of this program and we look forward to continuing this activity with them. Classes will rotate between both the East Bank and West Bank locations on Thursdays from 12:30pm - 2:00pm beginning January 2015. Photos

River Parish Day at Tulane
River Parish Day at Tulane was held Saturday December 6 at Yuleman Stadium. Approximately 126 participants from East St. John Elementary, Emily C. Watkins, John L. Ory, Laplace Elementary, Reserve Housing Authority, St. John Jr. Wildcats, and St. John Recreation represented St. John Parish for this fun-filled event. Once these participants arrived to the tailgating section, the kids were treated to a number of activities that included playing football, space walk, face painting, and laser guns provided by Games2U. Prior to the game, the participants also had the opportunity to march to the stadium behind the Tulane marching band. The kids were then treated to a good game before coming home. We would like to thank the following sponsors for helping with event - Live Oaks, River Oaks Homeowner's Association, Hymel's Turf & Landscaping and Game Day. Photos
