ST. JOHN THE BAPTIST PARISH - The Department of Parks and Recreation recently kicked off the 2016 Baseball Season at REGALA Park in Reserve.
Parish President Robottom, Parks & Recreation Director Kerry Watkins, Council Members and staff welcomed eager players, parents, coaches and fans to the park and expressed their excitement for a new season. President Robottom officially opened baseball season by throwing out the first pitch.
The season will consist of (5) 5/6 teams, (4) 7-8 teams, four (4) 9-10 teams and two (2) 11-12 teams. Games will be played on Tuesdays and Thursdays at REGALA Park. Players will also participate in tournaments statewide. Schedules of the baseball games will be posted online under Parks and Recreation Department at www.sjbparish.com.
“Baseball helps youth learn fundamental skills, leadership and sportsmanship while staying active, safe and engaged in our parks," said Parks & Recreation Director, Kerry Watkins. "It is with great enthusiasm that we look ahead to a successful baseball season while continuing to provide opportunities for youth to excel."
The Parks & Recreation Department is offering a variety of opportunities for youth this summer including Soccer, Gymnastics, Summer Camp, Water Aerobics and more.
