Risk of Severe Weather for St. John Thursday, February 21

ST. JOHN THE BAPTIST PARISH – Beginning Thursday morning and continuing through Thursday night, showers and isolated thunderstorms including a slight risk of severe weather and strong winds are expected for Southeast Louisiana including St. John the Baptist Parish as a warm front moves across the region. Severe storms are possible for the area; however the main threats are possible damaging winds, hail and isolated tornados. As a safety precaution, residents are asked to use caution when venturing outdoors.

Public Works and Utilities crews will be on hand in the event issues arise with drainage and utility systems. In an effort to prepare for this rain event, residents are also encouraged to assist in cleaning up catch basins and drainage systems in the neighborhoods.  Residents are asked to call the 9-1-1 Emergency Center to report any issues or concerns during the weather event. The St. John the Baptist Parish Office of Emergency Preparedness is in contact with the National Weather Service to receive the latest weather updates and forecasts.
