Conservation Measures Remain in Place for Reserve Residents

Wednesday, January 9, 2013 - 6:00 p.m.

The St. John the Baptist Parish Utilities Department is continuing to work on a leak in a 16 inch wastewater force main in Reserve near the Za Montz lift station.  Residents are asked to continue to conserve water by limiting the amount of discharge into the wastewater collection system.  Activities such as washing clothes, running dishwashers, flushing toilets, and all other activities that discharge into the collection system should be limited until further notice.

The Utilities Department will work through the night to repair the line and further notifications will be released as in the morning.  “We appreciate all the efforts our residents have put into conserving through today.  We would appreciate it if continued conservation measures are taken while we work to repair the line,” said Utilities Director Virgil Rayneri.

The St. John Parish water system is not impacted as a result of the leak in the wastewater line, and water is safe for consumption.
