ST. JOHN THE BAPTIST PARISH – Beginning tonight through Thursday morning showers and isolated thunderstorms including a slight risk of severe weather and strong winds are expected as a cold front moves from Tylertown, MS to the Baton Rouge line which includes St. John the Baptist Parish. Severe storms are possible; however the main threat is strong/damaging straight-line winds from heavier showers and storm. Severe weather appears to be a low risk for St. John; however residents should be prepared for possible changes in the forecast. As a safety precaution, residents are asked to use caution when on the roads during heavy rain events.
Public Works and Utilities crews are preparing for this rain event and will be on hand in the event issues arise with drainage and utility systems. In an effort to prepare for this rain event, residents are also encouraged to assist in cleaning up catch basin and drainage systems in the neighborhoods. Residents are asked to call the 9-1-1 Emergency Center to report any issues or concerns during the weather event. The St. John the Baptist Parish Office of Emergency Preparedness is in contact with the National Weather Service to receive the latest weather updates and forecasts.
