ST. JOHN THE BAPTIST PARISH – St. John the Baptist Parish Human Resources Department coordinated the 2012 health and wellness event for St. John the Baptist Parish employees and their families. The event was held on Wednesday, December 12, 2012 in the St. John Community Center. Fitness instructions, health information and blood pressure and bone density readings were provided to employees along with some Christmas merriment.
Exhibitors from River Parish Hospital, Coventry Health Care of LA and French Rivera Fitness Center shared health-related information with a goal of promoting healthy lifestyles. A French Rivera instructor demonstrated various exercise techniques for those interested in joining the gym which also made for entertainment for adults.
St. John Firefighters gave tips on preventing house fires and kitchen safety. Employee’s families were invited to take pictures with Santa and participate in the “Kids Station” which included fruit and veggie bracelets, coloring books, “reindeer food,” and an exercise for writing letters to Santa.
“The health and wellness event was the first all-staff event since Hurricane Isaac and it was a huge success. It was an opportunity for all of our employees to come together for a good cause and to show our appreciation for their work during and after the storm. Wellness involves both physical and mental health and we encourage our employees to take care of themselves,” said Parish President Natalie Robottom.
