St. John the Baptist Parish: Weather Update

ST. JOHN THE BAPTIST PARISH – The National Weather service has issued a severe thunderstorm warning and a tornado watch for St. John the Baptist Parish as a result of a cold front moving through the area.  The tornado watch will remain in effect until 3:00 p.m.

The severe thunderstorm is capable of producing damaging winds in excess of 60 mph and small hail can be expected.  As a result of its forward movement of 40 mph, the storm is not expected to remain over St. John the Baptist Parish for a long period of time.

Residents should have a tornado safety plan in place and be prepared to seek shelter indoors and away from windows if weather conditions worsen.  Motorists should also use caution on roadways throughout the day.
