ST. JOHN THE BAPTIST PARISH – St. John the Baptist Parish is currently seeking contestants for the 2012 Andouille Queen Pageants which were rescheduled as a result of Hurricane Isaac. The Miss and Teen Andouille Pageants are scheduled for Saturday, December 15, 2012 at 7:00 p.m. at the St. John Theatre, 115 West 4th St. in Reserve. The theme of the pageant is “Winter Wonderland”.
The Andouille Pageant is currently recruiting girls for the Miss and Teen Division. To be eligible for participation, contestants must be single with no children, a resident of St. John the Baptist Parish and between the ages of 13-16 for the Teen Division and 17-23 for the Miss Division, on the date of the pageant. The competition for each division consists of an interview and on-stage promenade. The deadline to register for the Teen and Miss Andouille Queen Pageants is Monday, November 26, 2012. To enter, please download an application at www.andouillefestival.com or visit the St. John the Baptist Parish Office at 1801 W. Airline Hwy in LaPlace. Applications can be mailed or delivered to Dana Milioto at 1801 W. Airline Hwy., LaPlace, LA 70068 before the deadline. Application can also be turned in at the Andouille Queen Informational Meeting on Monday, November 26 at 6:00 p.m. at St. John Theatre.
Throughout the year, the Andouille Queens will travel to many fairs and festivals representing Louisiana’s rich culture and promoting the St. John the Baptist Parish Andouille Festival. The 2012 queens will reign over the 2013 Andouille Festival as well as participate in various parish and community events as Ambassadors for St. John the Baptist Parish. Queens will also visit with their U. S. Representatives and Senators, the Governor of Louisiana, and many elected officials and representatives of Louisiana. The Miss Queen will compete in the Louisiana Queen of Queens Pageant held in February of each year.
The Baby through Junior Miss Andouille Pageants are rescheduled for December 16, 2012 at St. John Theatre. Contestants of ages 6 months to 12-years-old are needed. Applications will be accepted up to 30 minutes prior to the scheduled time for each pageant category on December 16.
