Beginning Thursday, October 18 at 9:00 a.m., approximately 100 feet of Central Avenue (LA Hwy 53) between the railroad tracks in Reserve will be closed to all traffic as a result of repairs to a corroded wastewater line. This road closure will affect motorists who travel through Central Avenue; however, residents will have access to their homes and businesses. The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (LA DOTD) has posted detour and road closure signs to notify motorists of alternate routes.
Motorists are encouraged to use the alternate routes that are advertised in an effort to control traffic on local roads and in neighborhoods. Traffic will be detoured to West 10th Street (LA Hwy 637) and East 22nd Street (LA Hwy 3179).
In an effort to continue daily services and safety, emergency responders, the St. John the Baptist Parish School Board including Riverside and St. Peter’s School, mail service, and garbage collection are aware of the closure and have made necessary contingency plans during the closure.
Construction work is expected to be completed by Saturday, October 20, 2012 at 6:00 p.m. The Utilities Department and BLD Construction will work as efficiently as possible to complete the necessary repairs.
