The United States Presidential Election will take place Tuesday, November 6, 2012. To qualify to vote residents must be a U.S. Citizen, must be 18 years old prior to next election to vote; not be under an order of imprisonment for conviction of a felony; not be under a judgment of full interdiction for mental incompetence or partial interdiction with suspension of voting rights; and reside in the state and parish in which you seek to register.
St. John voters who are not able to vote in person can request an absentee ballot from the St. John Registrar of Voters Office or from the Louisiana Secretary of State’s website before November 2. All ballots must be returned to the St. John the Baptist Parish Registrar of Voters’ office by Monday, November 5, 2012. Early voting will take place at both the Registrar of Voters East and West bank office from October 23 to October 30, 8:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. No reasoning is necessary to vote early.
On election day, polling sites throughout the parish will be open from 6:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. Voters are asked to bring a driver's license; a Louisiana Special ID; or some other picture ID that contains your name and signature. Residents can obtain a free Louisiana Special ID at the Office of Motor Vehicles by showing their voters registration information card. Those who have no picture ID may bring a utility bill, payroll check or government document that includes their name and address to vote. A list of polling locations in St. John the Baptist Parish can be found on the Louisiana Secretary of State’s website or by calling the St. John Parish Registrar of Voters Office.
