ST. JOHN THE BAPTIST PARISH – The Home Builders Association of Greater New Orleans hosted an informative event for residents recovering from Hurricane Isaac on Saturday, September 22, 2012 at New Wine Christian Fellowship Church in LaPlace. Various agencies were on hand to answer questions about insurance claims, permitting, contractors, contractor fraud, home repair loans & grants, Entergy bills, auto loans, flood elevation, property revaluations and other topics.
Vendors in attendance at the event included:
“St. John Parish thanks the Home Builders Association of Greater New Orleans for coordinating this event and also extends its’ appreciation to the numerous resource providers that were on hand to provide responses and solutions to rebuilding efforts in the Parish,” said Torri Buckles, St. John Parish Economic Development Director.
Residents can still apply for the Individual Assistance program through FEMA which includes Transitional Sheltering Assistance (TSA) for hotel or motel rooms while their homes are rehabilitated. To access TSA and rental assistance, residents must register for FEMA assistance. Louisiana residents can register by applying online at http://www.DisasterAssistance.gov or by calling 1-800-621-3362. Those with speech or hearing impairments should call (TTY) 1-800-462-7585. Also, individuals needing assistance with gutting or home repairs are encouraged to call (985) 359-0254 or e-mail a request to firstname.lastname@example.org. The hotline is open MON-SAT 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
