Marathon Petroleum Corporation, St. John the Baptist Parish Administration, St. John Parks and Recreation and Visionary Flyers, hosted a day of fun for families at Ezekiel Jackson Park on Saturday, September 22, 2012.
The free event was from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and featured jambalaya, cotton candy & popcorn, arts & crafts, face painting, a fire truck tour, spacewalks, an obstacle course, petting zoo, a punt-pass-kick contest and prizes.
“I would like to thank Marathon and its employees for being a conscious and responsible leader in our community,” said Councilman-at-Large Division “A” Lucien Gauff. “Financial contributions are always needed, but sometimes getting people to repair broken benches, to paint buildings, to cut grass and line the field, to serve a meal, to paint kids’ faces, and to throw footballs with teenagers, are just priceless.”
Ezekiel Jackson Park is located at 130 Historic Main Street in Garyville. Amenities include two baseball fields, a playground, a concession stand and restroom, an outside basketball court and a walking path.
“Marathon Petroleum is a great community partner and resource for our parish as they work with us to improve the quality of life for our citizens,” said Parks and Recreation Director Terrence Jones. “The Ezekiel Park Day event continues to be reflective of a positive partnership.”
