ST. JOHN THE BAPTIST PARISH– The Louisiana Department of Child and Family Services has extended the St. John the Baptist Parish D-SNAP site an additional two days to accommodate all residents. The site, located at New Wine Christian Fellowship, 1929 W. Airline Hwy, LaPlace, will remain open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. through Friday, September 14.
The DSNAP facility will be open for last names beginning with N - Z on Thursday and A - M on Friday.
D-SNAP, formerly called Disaster Food Stamps provides food assistance for eligible households who do not receive regular SNAP benefits and who need help buying groceries due to lost income or damages following a disaster.
The D-SNAP formula adds together monthly household income between August 26 and September 24, as well as liquid resources such as checking and savings accounts that is not already specified for expenses. It then deducts unreimbursed disaster-related expenses to arrive at an adjusted gross monthly income. The upper limit of adjusted gross monthly income differs based on family size.
To pre-apply, visit: http://www.dcfs.louisiana.gov or by phone at 1-888-LAHELP-U (888-524-3578). All applicants must have a face-to-face interview with the Department of Child and Family Services.
