All East Bank Residents Asked to Conserve Water

Monday, July 9, 2012

As a result of a water leak at Ruddock Water Well #1, the St. John the Baptist Parish Utilities Department is currently asking all east bank residents to conserve water and refrain from non-essential uses until further notice.  The water leak was detected earlier in the day and repair crews are assessing the problem to determine the extent of needed repairs.  This assessment should be completed by the end of the day.  Ruddock Water Well #2 is currently performing to design standards and may be supplemented by water from the Lions Water Plant should the need arise.  All water towers are filled and fire personnel have been advised of current conditions.

It is critical that all residents in LaPlace, Reserve, Garyville, and Mount Airy begin conserving water immediately.  Residents are asked to refrain from washing clothes, running dishwashers, watering lawns, washing vehicles, filling pools, and all other activities that require using large quantities of water.  As conditions change, additional information will be provided.  We apologize for the inconvenience, but repair crews are working to correct the problem.
