Greenwood Drive Roadway Project to Begin Monday

The Greenwood Drive Roadway Rehabilitation Project is scheduled to begin Monday, June 11, 2012 and should be completed within 45 days.   The project is being constructed by Byron E. Talbot Contractor, Inc. of Robert, LA at a cost of $262,300.00.  This project is funded through the 2009 Bond Issue and will consist of reconstruction and repair of Greenwood Drive between Carrollwood Drive and Ridgefield Drive.  The project was postponed to allow for completion of the school construction and to avoid interference with the school year.

Greenwood Drive will be closed intermittently during construction, but residents will have access to their homes for the duration of the project.  Residents will be notified prior to conducting work that limits access to their homes. Greenwood Park will be closed Monday, June 11 and will remain closed throughout the duration of the project for safety reasons.  The project is scheduled to be completed prior to the start of the school year. “We waited until the end of this school year to begin the road repairs and have been assured by the contractor that this project will be completed on time for the start of school at LaPlace Elementary” Cheryl Millet, Councilwoman District 7.

All emergency personnel, including the fire department, police department, and emergency medical services have been advised of the repair schedule and each has developed alternate plans for emergency response. Mail service will be uninterrupted and a plan is being developed by IESI for alternative garbage collection in this area.

“Completion of the Greenwood Drive Rehabilitation Project is the final phase of work completed last year on the Greenwood Bridge.  We apologize in advance for the disruption and request your patience and cooperation as this project moves forward,” said Parish President Natalie Robottom.  Updates on the project will be released as the project moves forward.
