St. John the Baptist Parish will host the 40th Annual Andouille Festival on Friday, October 26th through Sunday, October 28th at the Highway 51 Park and St. John Community Center. The festival is scheduled to take place one weekend later than normal this year to avoid conflicts with the Louisiana State Fair and the Oak Alley Plantation Arts and Crafts Festival. It is also anticipated that the change to this weekend will also reduce conflicts with high school and college football games.

The Festival is an exhilarating celebration of savory foods that feature andouille, performing arts, outdoor entertainment, crafts, and activities for the entire family. The festival is in its third and hopefully final location, as it was originally initiated in 1972 at the drag strip as as a fundraiser for the LaPlace Volunteer Fire Department. The festival has evolved into a parish-sponsored event which supports non-profit organizations and local businesses, while providing a wholesome, fun filled weekend for residents and visitors.

Festival organizers plan to unveil a greater variety of entertainment, events, rides, vendors, and program partners this year, promoting St. John the Baptist Parish as "The Andouille Capital of the World." It is a great event that will be marketed as a tourist attraction. “A festival business plan is currently being drafted which aims to increase participation, maximize local vendor participation and minimize financial losses to the parish. The goal is to increase revenues to off-set expenses through sponsorships and increased participation,” said Economic Development Director Torri Buckles.

As activities and events are finalized, additional information will be placed on the Andouille Festival website at “Our goal is to create a premiere festival for our residents and visitors, while promoting St. John the Baptist Parish to the region,” said Parish President Natalie Robottom.

Applications for food, craft, and game booths are now available online at or at the St. John Economic Development Office. Vendors interested in participating in this year’s Andouille Festival can contact the St. John the Baptist Parish Economic Development Office at 985-652-9569.
