As a result of weather-related delays, filming of “Django Unchained” at Whitney and Evergreen Plantations will resume on Wednesday, April 4 as approved by the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development. Highway 18 in Edgard and Wallace will be closed from 6:00 a.m. through 8:00 p.m. in this area on Wednesday, April 4 and Thursday, April 5, weather permitting. Motorists are asked to detour onto Highway 3127, however; residents will have access to neighborhoods and businesses.
The film production company expects this to be the last road closure as the remainder of the filming will be on the plantation grounds and other locations with no interruption to traffic.
Motorists are asked to pay close attention to the electronic boards and detour signs which are placed in various locations on the West Bank to alert drivers of road closures as changes may occur. The ferry will remain open weather permitting and the Edgard Courthouse will be open for regular operations. Emergency responders, including fire fighters, EMTs with Acadian Ambulance Services and Sheriff’s Deputies are permitted to drive through the closure at any time in the event of an emergency.
