Flash Flood Watch and Tornado Watch Remain in Effect

Flash Flood Watch and Tornado Watch Remain in Effect

Wednesday, March 21, 2012 - 1:50 p.m.

According to the National Weather Service, St. John the Baptist Parish has been released from the tornado and severe thunderstorm warnings; however, remains under a tornado watch until 6:00 p.m. and a flash flood watch through Thursday.  Heavy rain and thunderstorms with high winds are expected through Thursday.

St. John the Baptist Parish Public Works and Utilities’ crews are monitoring all pumps and drainage systems, and did not report any problems from today’s rain event. The St. John Parish Emergency Operations Center has been in constant contact with the National Weather Service and will remain in contact with them while monitoring the weather system for any changes.
