A weather advisory has been issued for St. John the Baptist Parish and the surrounding areas. A slight risk of severe weather is expected to move through the area tonight and tomorrow. The National Weather Service reported the system to be unpredictable; however, residents are advised to tune in to local weather stations for updates as the risk for severe weather is expected to increase late tonight.
Showers and thunderstorms will be ongoing and should continue through early afternoon Thursday. According to the National Weather Service, the biggest concern is damaging winds and quick developing tornadoes. In addition, many areas are expected to receive one to two inches of rain with this system.
