A portion of West 5th Street between Orange Loop and Main Street in LaPlace will be closed beginning Monday, October 31, 2011 due to construction of the St. Joan of Arc/Persimmon St. drainage project. This closing will affect motorists who frequent West 5th Street as it will be closed to through traffic; however, residents will have access to their homes. Detour and road closure signs will be placed in advance to notify motorists of alternate routes.
Motorists are encouraged to use the alternate routes that are advertised. Major traffic will be detoured to LA 629, Fir Street and Hemlock. Personnel involved with fire safety, emergency response, schools, mail service, and garbage collection are aware of the road closure.
As the project moves forward, representatives from the parish Administration will maintain contact with the contractor and engineers and make notifications to residents as necessary.
Construction is expected to be complete by Friday, November 4, 2011 at 6:00pm. “We apologize for the inconvenience, but ask for your patience during completion of this important project. Command Construction Industries, LLC will make every effort to complete this project as quickly as possible,” stated Robottom.
