Cooler weather is moving through just in time for the 39th Annual Andouille Festival. St. John the Baptist Parish has lined up a slew of bands, vendors, children’s activities, a new gospel stage, food, games and so much more for residents and “festival goers” to enjoy. Everyone is invited to spend the weekend with our newly crowned Andouille Queens at the St. John Community Center grounds Friday, October 14 – 6 pm to midnight, Saturday, October 15 – 11 am to midnight, and Sunday, October 16 – 11 am to 10 pm.
The Kids’ Zone Tent will feature many exciting activities such as a Michael Jackson impersonator, local dance company performances, a magic act by Nathan Kepner, a Zumba demonstration by River Parish Hospital staff, teenage rock concerts, and so much more. On our band stage, musical performances include Groovy 7, Vince Vance & the Valiants, Typikal Reasons, Off the Hook, LA Spice, Mojeaux and more. The 33rd Annual Andouille Run will take place Saturday morning at 8:30 along with a gumbo cook-off at 2:00. Registration forms can be downloaded at www.andouillefestival.com/events.
Sunday will feature the Andouille Festival Jazz Brunch with Parish President Natalie Robottom. Jazz Brunch tickets are available for $20.00 at the Percy D. Hebert Parish Office Building located at 1801 W. Airline Hwy., Cajun Grill Restaurant and Catering, the Andouille Festival, and at the door.
“Pay One Price” ride tickets are available in advance for $20.00 or at the festival for $25.00. Advance tickets are available for purchase at the Percy D. Hebert Parish Office Building, Matherne’s Supermarket, Gregg’s Neighborhood Store, Don’s Country Store and the Edgard Courthouse. “After a very successful event last year, we are excited to present some new features to this year’s festival. Plan for your weekend right here at home and enjoy what the St. John the Baptist Parish Andouille Festival has to offer,” said Parish President Natalie Robottom.
