Contestants will vie for the 2011 Andouille Queen title this Saturday, October 1 at 7:00 PM. Andouille Pageant Directors, Dana Milioto and Terry Lucia, received eleven applications for the Miss Division and eight applications for the Teen Division last night at the St. John Theatre.
Both Teen and Miss contestants will compete in interview and on stage categories on Saturday. Look for the contestant’s names, photos, and biographies Saturday morning in the L’Observateur newspaper.
This year’s theme will be “St. John Theatre through the Years,” commemorating the history of our local theatre with segments of its first showings and theatrical performances dating back to 1981. “We wanted to make it unique and entertaining. Our theatre is known for its history and entertainment, and we thought it would be exciting to showcase some of the featured music, scenes, and movies. It will be a time to bring back all the laughs and special moments that many of us have shared there,” stated Dana Milioto, Andouille Pageant Director.
New activities will be incorporated into this year’s pageant in an effort to give back to the community and to involve the crowd. In addition, guests are asked to bring a canned good to the pageant as a donation to the St. John Ministry of Care for this upcoming holiday season.
Queens will serve as Ambassadors for St. John the Baptist Parish and the Andouille Festival. “We invite all to enjoy a night of reminiscing as the 2011 Andouille Queens are crowned! Also, I would like to thank the 2010 Andouille Queens, Ron’eeka Hill and Shelby Clement for their representation at many fairs, festivals, pageants, and community events throughout St. John the Baptist Parish and Louisiana. Good luck to both of you with your future endeavors,” stated Parish President Natalie Robottom.
All are invited to a reception after the pageant at The New Bull’s Corner located at 1036 West Airline Hwy in LaPlace.
