This morning a traffic accident on Hemlock Street in LaPlace damaged several transformers, three feeders, and seven electrical poles resulting in power outages to approximately 5700 customers in LaPlace. Entergy is currently assessing the damage and pulling crews from other locations to assist in restoring power as soon as possible. Customers north of Airline Hwy are expected to have power restored by the end of today; however, customers south of Airline Highway may not have power restored until tomorrow.
The power outage is also affecting the parish’s wastewater collection system which includes all of the sewage leaving homes and business. All residents are being asked to refrain from or conserve activities which produce high levels of wastewater such as laundry, excessive washing, and flushing of toilets.
FirstCall messages were sent to all residents and businesses in the LaPlace area. For information regarding the status of power in your area, call 1-800-9OUTAGE.
