The Louisiana Committee for Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR), an agency of the Department of Defense, honored Parish President Natalie Robottom and St. John Fire Department District Chief Cain Dufrene with Patriot Awards in recognition of extraordinary support of employee Gunnery Sergeant (GySgt) Michael Phillpott who serves in the United States Marine Corps Reserve.
According to Larry L. Jones, Commander, U.S. Coast Guard (retired) ESGR Southeast Louisiana Area Chair, “The Patriot Award was created by ESGR to publicly recognize individuals who provide outstanding patriotic support and cooperation to their employees, who like the citizen warriors before them, have answered their nation’s call to serve. Parish President Robottom and District Chief Dufrene were nominated by their Reserve Component employee for being highly supportive of the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve. Supportive supervisors are critical to maintaining the strength and readiness of the nation’s National Guard and Reserve units.”
“I am very thankful for the nomination and appreciation displayed by Mr. Phillpott. It is imperative that as employers, we support our military in both reserve and active duty. I also commend Fire Chief Dufrene for accommodating GySgt Phillpott when needed,” stated Parish President Natalie Robottom. Chief Cain Dufrene was also appreciative of Phillpott’s nomination saying, “I appreciate GySgt Phillpott’s dedication to our community and our nation. I will continue to support him and all others who fight for St. John Parish and the United States.”
ESGR recognizes outstanding support, increases awareness of the law, and resolves conflict through mediation. More information about ESGR Employer Outreach Programs and volunteer opportunities is available at www.esgr.mil or by calling 800-336-4590.
