Country Club Bridge Repairs to begin January 31, 2011

Country Club Bridge Repairs to begin January 31, 2011

A portion of Country Club Drive will be closed due to repairs to the Country Club Drive bridge beginning Monday January 31, 2011.  This closing will affect residents on Country Club Drive and the surrounding areas for approximately four (4) months.  All residents are encouraged to use an alternate route as Country Club Drive will not be available as a through street.  For traffic control and safety purposes residents who live in Live Oak Landing and River Oaks Subdivisions are encouraged to use St. Andrews Boulevard rather than Carmel Valley to enter and exit their subdivisions.  "We are hoping that the weather will work with us to expeditiously complete this project," said Councilwoman Cheryl Millet.

Garbage and mail services will be uninterrupted, but garbage trucks may have to back into Country Club Drive because no turn around exists.  Residents are asked to use caution during this time.  School bus service will not be available on Country Club Drive, but arrangements have been made with families of children involved.

The Country Club Bridge repairs are being conducted by Gray Construction of Morgan City at a cost of approximately $324,000.00 and a construction time of 120 days.  All fire departments and emergency personnel have been advised of the repair schedule and each has developed alternate routes for emergency response.  "We apologize for the inconvenience and ask for your patience as the project is completed," said Parish President Natalie Robottom.
