November 7, 2019 - 8:00 p.m.
St. John the Baptist Parish - The Utilities Department and a contractor have worked tirelessly to complete emergency water line repairs to a main water line in LaPlace. In an effort to make emergency repairs, water service will be turned off to Laplace beginning at 11:00 p.m., Thursday, November 7, 2019 and will be off for an estimated 4 to 6 hours. Water customers in LaPlace will have little to no water pressure during this time. Utilities has exhausted all other efforts and this is the last resort.
Due to the loss in water pressure, all LaPlace water customers will be under a Boil Water Advisory when water is restored.
This BOIL ADVISORY is to remain in effect until lifted by the St. John the Baptist Parish Utilities Department. The Utilities Department will lift the Boil Water Advisory upon notification from the Louisiana Department of Health that the water samples collected are safe.
It is recommended that all consumers disinfect their water before consuming it or using it for food preparation by boiling water for one (1) full minute in a clean container. The one minute starts after the water has been brought to a rolling boil. Showering and bathing is not affected. Again, please be sure to disinfect your own water prior to consumption until you have been advised otherwise. You will be notified when the Boil Water Advisory has been lifted.
