St. John the Baptist Parish – Parish President Robottom and staff, including representatives from the Economic Development Department, joined MC Hotels Chairman W. Harrison Smith, President Delton Smith, Vice President John Holmstrom, General Manager Leanne Leon and Timothy Bright of Belle Terre Land LLC for a grand opening and ribbon cutting for the new Fairfield Inn & Suites by Marriott. Members from the River Region Chamber of Commerce, River Parishes Tourism Commission, Economic Development Committee, and Harold Flynn, Jr. development consultant were also in attendance.
Located at 944 Belle Terre Blvd., the hotel has 94 rooms, 23 suites and a conference room, outdoor patio, pool and exercise room. The economic impact to the parish is approximately $13 million, which includes 20 new jobs, 18 of which are filled by parish residents. According to management, the hotel serves guests of all ages including business travelers during the week and vacationers and families on the weekend.
Parish President Natalie Robottom said Fairfield Inn & Suites is a welcome addition to the Parish, especially near Interstate 10. “In addition to its economic impact, the new hotel supports tourism, economic development and gives travelers a reason to exit into the parish.” “The goal is for motorists to exit as they travel along the interstate and drive further into our Parish to take advantage of our restaurants and other businesses. We look forward to seeing the hotel’s parking lot full.”
Other amenities at the hotel include, free WIFI, a business center with printing capabilities, in-room and lobby workspaces, complimentary hot breakfast, refrigerators in all rooms, a 24/7 fitness center and more.
“We are happy to see this project come to completion and look forward to serving the community,” said Delton Smith.
