Water Conservation Measures Remain in Place

Thursday, January 4, 2017

St. John the Baptist Parish – The St. John the Baptist Parish potable water systems are operating at high demand as a result of water leaks and dripping faucets.  In an effort to maintain water pressure and conserve water, all residents are urged to only run faucets if neccessary and only when temperatures are below freezing.   Also, residents are urged to refrain from large water uses which includes frequenting car washes, washing clothes and running dishwashers.

It is critical that all residents Parishwide begin conserving water immediately.   Please ensure exposed pipes located outside or in unheated areas are properly wrapped to prevent leaks as we anticipate one more rounf of freezing temperatures Thursday night. Thank you for your assistance.

Water Conservation Tips:

  • Turn off the water when brushing teeth

  • When shaving, place water in basin or sink rather than having it run continuously

  • Minimize washing dishes, using dishwasher, and letting the faucet run

  • Do not wash vehicle or frequent car washes

  • Only use clothes washer with full loads

  • Turn off dripping facuets when temperatures are above freezing.
