St. John the Baptist Parish – Approximately twenty entrepreneurs recently joined the elite list of more than 100 graduates from the FastTrac Entrepreneurial Training Program. The ten week course, funded through a Cooperative Endeavor Agreement with St. John Economic Development (ED), Louisiana Economic Development (LED) and other partners includes facilitated activities and discussions, guest speakers, networking, coaching sessions and action steps to help small business owners grow. The program is provided to participants for a minimal fee and is held at the River Parishes Community College in Reserve.

Parish President Natalie Robottom, Stephanie Hartman, LED Small Business Services Manager, Penelope Freeman RPCC Dean, St. John ED Director Jerry Jones, Wayne Aucoin, FastTrac Administrator and Consultant, ED Committee members, Councilman Larry Sorapuru and a host of family and friends were on hand for the 2017 Fall Graduation Ceremony to congratulate the graduates on completing the program.

The 10-session program is designed especially for new business owners, business owners with less than 2 years in business or business owners that have been operating informally or part-time. Upon completion of the program, participants leave with a completed business plan that can be used to access capital through business loans, grant funding, and other resources and technical assistance.  “The FastTrac initiative in St. John the Baptist Parish serves as a tool that prepares small businesses and potential entrepreneurs as to how to grow their businesses,” said Robottom. “Not every place has access to this type of program and we are very proud that we can offer opportunities and resources to further advance the success of our small businesses.”  “Congratulations to all who graduated and best of wishes in the future.”
