President Robottom Joins Winn Dixie CEO for Re-Grand Opening

Tuesday, October 31, 2017

St. John the Baptist Parish – Parish President Robottom, Administrative staff, Assessor Lucien Gauff, and Councilman Larry Sorapuru joined Southeastern Grocers President & CEO Anthony Hucker, Winn Dixie employees, local vendors and a crowd of shoppers to commemorate remodeling of their LaPlace store.  As part of the grand re-opening, a ribbon cutting ceremony was held, attendees sampled food and drinks from local vendors and toured the newly renovated store.  In addition, the first 500 customers received a free mystery gift card valued between $5 and $500, redeemable with their purchase.

According to Southeastern Grocer officials, renovations were initiated following requests from customers for a more enhanced shopping experience.  These requests were fulfilled through rearrangement of many of the items to a more natural location near related items, special pricing and new offerings. The renovations lasted approximately 6 weeks as the store remained open during the work.

Renovations include:

  • New facade signage and a fresh, color and modern store signage inside.
  • Improved deli with expanded grab-and-go meal options, including a hot soup bar and sub sandwich shop.
  • New Dollar Shop section with almost 1,000 items.
  • Newly updated farm-fresh produce department
  • New hot wing bar featuring six varieties of sauced or dry rubbed chicken wings.
  • Grab-and-go sushi prepared fresh daily by an expert sushi chef.
  • An improved bakery department with new selections and displays along with cake decorating.
  • Full-service seafood department, offering shoppers a variety of seafood and the option to select a convenient “Seafood Made Easy” meal to cut down cooking time.
  • Full-service meat department with a butcher on site for fresh cuts of meat by request.

“We are excited that Southeastern Grocers listened to their customers and chose to invest in the LaPlace store and our community.  The new features are extremely appealing and are geared toward today’s customers.  This was a team effort and we thank everyone involved for their confidence in our parish and our residents,” said Parish President Robottom. The new and improved Winn-Dixie location is open 6 a.m. to 11 p.m., seven days a week.
