Residents invited to Martin Luther King, Jr. Day Celebrations

ST. JOHN THE BAPTIST PARISH - St. John the Baptist residents are invited to honor and celebrate the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. at events being held throughout the Parish on Monday, January 16, 2017.

On Monday, a march will take place in LaPlace at 9:00 a.m., proceeding up Belle Pointe Blvd. down Airline Hwy. to New Wine Christian Fellowship, 1929 Airline Highway in LaPlace.  Those interested in marching are asked to begin lining up at 8:00 a.m. at the intersection of 400 Ory Dr. and Belle Pointe Blvd.  A rally will immediately follow the march at New Wine Christian Fellowship with the theme “Ain’t No Stopping Us Now.” New Wine is located at 1929 West Airline Hwy, Laplace.

The West Bank Civic Association will also hold its annual Martin Luther King, Jr. march and rally on Monday, beginning at noon at the Roland Borne Sr. Memorial Library, 2979 LA Highway in Edgard. Immediately following the march, there will be a ceremony at West St. John Elementary School, 2555 Highway 18 in Edgard.
