St. John the Baptist Parish - The St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff’s Office and St. John Firefighters will host a "Guns 'n Hoses" flag football tournament November 12, beginning at 8 a.m., at Joe Keller Stadium (East St. John High School) in LaPlace. Proceeds will benefit the families of fallen Fire Chief Spencer Chauvin and injured firefighters Mack Beal and Nick Saale. Chief Chauvin was killed, and Beal and Saale were injured while working a wreck on Interstate 10.
The tournament will feature eight teams, double elimination. Teams from the SJSO, St. John firefighters, St. Charles Sheriff’s Office, Slidell Fire Department, Hammond Police Department and Kenner Fire Department will compete. In an exhibition game at 1 p.m., the SJSO and St. John firefighters will battle for bragging rights.

Children will be given time on the field for punt, pass and kick competitions during half time of games. A 50/50 drawing for morning and evening events is planned. A silent auction with a sports memorabilia group will be held. Concessions will be sold.

Admission to the event is free. Residents are invited to attend the event to benefit the families of our fallen Fire Chief and injured firefighters.
