ST. JOHN THE BAPTIST PARISH REGISTRAR OF VOTERS
OFFICIAL PUBLIC NOTICE
In accordance with the Article XI of the Constitution of Louisiana and Louisiana Revised Statutes 18:51 – 18:52, the St. John the Baptist Parish Governing Authority is requesting qualified individuals to submit an application packet for appointment to fill the vacancy of St. John the Baptist Parish Registrar of Voters.
Applications may be picked up from the St. John the Baptist Parish Council Office, located at 1805 West Airline Highway, LaPlace, Louisiana 70068. A complete application packet must be submitted to the St. John the Baptist Parish Council Secretary Jackie Landeche by December 2, 2016, at 4:30 pm (CST). Completed application packets may be submitted to the Council Secretary via E-mail at email@example.com, hand-delivery to the Council office or by overnight courier. The Governing Authority will not consider an application packet that is incomplete or submitted untimely.
The Governing Authority shall offer to interview each applicant who meets the qualifications provided by law for the office of registrar of voters at the January 10, 2017 Council Meeting. Each applicant interview will be properly placed on the Council Agenda. The Governing Authority will appoint a St. John the Baptist Parish Registrar of Voters on January 24, 2017.
Qualifications: In accordance with Act 414 of the La. Regular Session 2016, made effective on November 8, 2016, the registrar shall possess at least one of the following at the time of appointment:
(a) A baccalaureate degree from an accredited institution and two years of full-time, professional work experience
(b) An associate degree from an accredited institution and four years of full-time, professional work experience
(c) Seven years of full-time, professional work experience
(d) Five years of full-time employment in a registrar’s office in Louisiana
(2) For the purposes of this Subsection, “professional work experience” means experience in an occupation which requires specialized and theoretical knowledge usually acquired through college training or through work experience and other training which provides comparable knowledge.
