ST. JOHN THE BAPTIST PARISH - On Saturday, October 1, 2016, approximately 80 youth competed in St. John Parish’s 1st annual NFL Punt, Pass and Kick (PPK) event. The NFL PPK program is a free national skills competition for boys and girls between the ages of 6 and 15 who compete separately against their peers in a variety of football exercises.
All participants received a PP&K certificate of Excellence, and Raising Cane’s Achievement Award and free kid’s combo. First through third place winners received ribbons. Participants who captured the first place titles will advance to the next phase of competition located at Zephyrs Stadium on Saturday, October 8 and could advance to the team championship in the Superdome if successful there.
“The first annual event was a huge success and we would like to thank all of the volunteers for their time and efforts on ensuring our youth had a fun-filled and active day,” said Parks & Recreation Director Kerry Watkins. “A special thank you to the St. John Sheriff’s Office and Raising Cane’s of LaPlace a for helping sponsor the event and for their assistance."

The St. John Parks & Recreation Department will be registering Parish youth for basketball season now through November 4. Registration and payment is available on the St. John Parish website at sjbparish.com or Parish office at 200 Regala Park Rd in Reserve. Registration is $15.00 per child.
