This is a message from St. John Parish regarding the unprecedented flooding impacting our state. As of noon today, the National Weather Service expanded its Flood Warning to include portions of northern LaPlace, Reserve and Garyville just south of I-10.
Although there is a great deal of uncertainty in the forecast, residents are encouraged to make preparations for possible flooding.
Parish officials are monitoring the situation and making preparations to assist residents and business owners.
Sandbags and sand are available at fire stations in Garyville, Wallace and Pleasure Bend. The parish sandbagging operation is ongoing and is located at the Captain Bourgeois location.
Residents who live in low-lying areas should also consider moving vehicles to higher ground and off roadways. Please stay tuned to news stations, sjbparish.com and the St. John Facebook
