Lift Station Rehabilitation Project Complete

Monday, June 13, 2016

St. John the Baptist Parish – In an effort to improve parishwide infrastructure, repairs were recently completed to twelve wastewater lift stations with electrical and mechanical damage from Hurricane Isaac.

The $2.8 million project replaced above ground pumps with submersible pumps at 12 lift stations to improve efficiency and protect them against surface fluids and weather conditions. Electrical components were removed from underground locations and relocated to above ground locations to prevent future flooding and damage.

This project was designed by C.J. Savoie and Associates and constructed by Fleming Construction, LLC in two phases. Phase I of the project included six lift stations at a cost of $1.7 million and Phase II included the remaining six lift stations at a cost of $1.1 million. The project was primarily funded by FEMA with a 75/25 cost share with the parish's portion funded through the 2010 Bond Issue.

Lift stations at the following locations were repaired:

  • River Forest (2)
  • Walnut
  • Martin Drive
  • Main Street
  • Hwy 51 (ITA)
  • Hwy 51 (Burger King)
  • Cambridge (2)
  • Greenwood
