St. John the Baptist Parish- The U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) is offering low-interest disaster loans to St. John businesses, nonprofits, homeowners and renters who suffered losses caused by the severe storms, tornadoes and straight-line winds that occurred February 23 through 24, 2016.
SBA customer service representatives are currently in LaPlace to meet with disaster victims. Representatives will be available to answer specific questions and provide one-on-one assistance in completing applications for loans.

In addition, homeowners, specifically elderly, disabled, uninsured and underinsured residents who sustained damaged due to the February 23 tornado are encouraged to contact the St. John the Baptist Parish Long Term Recovery Group (SJBP LTRG) at 985-359-0460 for assistance. Please leave a message if you are unable to reach a volunteer and someone will return your call.
The SJBP LTRG which assisted more than a thousand homeowners in the aftermath of Hurricane Isaac, has been reactivated to provide rebuilding assistance to tornado victims. Residents can also visit the center at 1933 W. Airline Hwy in LaPlace.
The group includes faith-based leaders, Parish officials, volunteer agencies and non-profit organizations whose mission is to further assist the needs of those who need it most. Visit www.stjohnrecovery.com for more information.
