St. John the Baptist Parish – Summer is quickly approaching and the St. John Parish Parks and Recreation Department is gearing up for summer programs and new activities for residents of all ages. Register for programs listed below visiting the Parks & Recreation Office at 200 Regala Park Rd., LaPlace or calling the office at 985-652-9569.
Parks & Recreation will be hosting a free youth soccer camp on Saturday, May 7, 2016 at Thomas F. Daley Memorial (Hwy 51) Park in LaPlace. Registration will begin at 8:30 a.m. Session 1 will be held from 9:00 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. and Session will be held from 12:30 p.m. – 2:30 p.m.
Registration is currently open for the St. John the Baptist Parish Summer Camp for youth ages 4 through 14. The camp is held Monday through Thursday, from 9:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., beginning June 6, 2016 and ending July 14, 2016. The registration fee is $150 for the 6 week camp.
Daily activities include arts and crafts, team sports, swimming, academic enrichment, games, field trips and more. The registration deadline is May 20. Lunch will be provided through the St. John Parish Summer Feeding Program. Eastbank and Westbank sites included.
Water Aerobics is being offered again this summer on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. Sessions will take place from 8:30 a.m.-9:30 a.m. and 6:30 p.m.-7:30 p.m. This program is suitable for every age and fitness level.
Does your child ages 5-14 enjoy twirling a ribbon or playing with a hula hoop? If so, this new program being offered is perfect hobby for your little one. If they like the benefits of dance and ballet blended with a unique blend of gymnastics, register them on Monday, May 9 at 6:00 p.m. at the Recreation Office.
Certified Lifeguards Needed:
Applications are now being accepted. If not certified, assistance with the certification process will be provided.
