St. John the Baptist Parish – Parish President Natalie Robottom and the Bruno Brothers, managing partners of Riverlands Shopping Center, are pleased to announce the eminent reopening of the movie theatre in the Riverlands Shopping Center.  Doug and Cathy Collins, owners of Acadiana Cinemas, plan to renovate the Hollywood 7 Movie Theatre for reopening in March of 2016.

Renovations include upgrades to the auditoriums, the lobby and restrooms and reconfiguration of several small auditoriums into a larger auditorium converting the cinema into a five screen theatre. The updated and modernized theatre will feature the following upgrades to improve the movie-going experience:

  • Newly installed stadium-style seating in all auditoriums providing customers unobstructed views of the screens
  • Several auditoriums will feature oversized VIP-style lounge chairs and/or recliners with more spacious seating and rows for added comfort

A new ticketing system will also be installed to allow for online ticket purchases, gift cards and credit cards. Other improvements include an updated concession stand with a more efficient service area, new and exciting décor throughout and updated restrooms.  “Substantially everything that the customer touches will be brand new, said Doug Collins. “When complete, the movie-going experience in LaPlace will be new and exciting, giving the area a convenient and unique experience,” Cathy Collins added.

Acadiana Cinemas, based in Lafayette, currently operates four movie theatres. All are older theatres that in recent years have successfully undergone substantial renovations and upgrades, similar to those planned for LaPlace. “We welcome superb operators Doug and Cathy Collins to the community,” said Robert Bruno. “They have a proven record of success in smaller markets and we are excited to see that they recognize LaPlace as a growing community in the need of first class entertainment.” He added,” Special thanks goes out to Parish President Natalie Robottom and her staff who helped pave the way for this tremendous upgrade in entertainment.”

In addition to movie premieres and showings, the theatre will offer birthday party and school group rates, private screenings, facility rental packages and more.
