Robottom Gains Council Approval for Multiple Parish Contracts at Finance Meeting

ST. JOHN THE BAPTIST PARISH – At Tuesday night's Finance Committee meeting, the Parish Council approved several annual contracts for 2016 at the request of Parish President Robottom.  These contracts are needed for the purchase of goods and services throughout the year to keep the parish moving forward.  A new fuel management system was also approved to monitor fuel usage for parish vehicles and equipment.  In other business two contract extensions were approved to continue programs funded through a Hurricane Isaac Community Development Block Grant (CDBG).  

Annual contracts for fuel, asphalt, and concrete were awarded to the lowest responsive and responsible bidder. Waguespack Oil Company of LaPlace, LA was awarded the fuel contract at .1099 over rack price for Regular Unleaded, Low Sulfur, and High Sulfur Diesel.  Barriere Construction Co. was awarded the asphalt contract while LA Contracting Enterprise was awared the contract for concrete replacements based on unit pricing.  Bids were taken under advisement for pumps and related materials and warehouse fittings.

The original contract award for a fuel management system was rejected as non-responsive as it did not address the warranty requirement.  As a result, a new agreement was approved with Trac Engineering Systems at a cost of $69,077.12, which includes a 10 year warranty.  The system will be used to manage, track, and control fuel consumption and costs for parish vehicles and equipment.

To continue legal and inspection services for the CDBG Housing Rehabilitation Program, contracts were extended for one year as the process moves closer to completion.  Bayou Title Inc. currently manages applications for the Housing Elevation, Homebuyer Assistance, and the Small Rental Rehabilitation Programs.  This contract is a no cost time extension.  Team Title, Inc. manages applications for the Homeowner Rehabilitation program and due to the increased number of applications submitted, the contract was amended with a not to exceed amount of $181,984.00 for a one year extenision. 

St. John the Baptist Parish entered into a lease-purchase agreement with Motorola Solutions, Inc. for equipment needed in the 911 Dispatch Center.  Payments will be made in three installments of $129,172.15 annually, whihc is funded through the 911 Communication's District.  Motorola Solutions provides technical support and maintenance on all equipment located in the 911 Center.
