ST. JOHN THE BAPTIST PARISH – Parish President Natalie Robottom, joined representatives from the River Region Chamber of Commerce, Dr. Doug Mehaffie, Monica Mehaffie, employees, family and friends for the grand opening and ribbon cutting ceremony of The Urgent Care in LaPlace. The new medical facility is open seven days a week, Monday – Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. and Saturday – Sunday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. “Everyone has been really nice throughout the process and the parish has been instrumental in helping us open,” said Dr. Doug Mehaffie, Medical Director and owner of The Urgent Care.
The facility has a full medical staff including doctors, nurse practitioners, nurses, and support staff. Designed with seven examination rooms, an x-ray room and a medium complexity lab, The Urgent Care offers routine care in addition to caring for common illnesses and injuries such as common colds, rashes, dehydration, coughs, insect bites, arthritis, shots, IVs, etc. for children and adults. Patients may also visit The Urgent Care for physicals and exams, blood pressure tests, lab tests, metabolic profiles, vaccinations and skin tests.
Owned and operated by Dr. Doug Mehaffie and his wife Monica Mehaffie, The Urgent Care consists of team members with specialized training and multiple certifications. The staff strives to stay informed of the very latest in technology and medical advances by regularly attending continuing education courses and seminars.
