Today, Parish President Natalie Robottom and the Andouille Festival Committee proudly announced their partnership with Marathon Petroleum Company as the presenting sponsor for the 2015 Andouille Festival. This year marks the forty-second year of the Andouille Festival which will be held on Friday, October 16 through Sunday, October 18 at the Thomas F. Daley Park in LaPlace. For the first time in the festival’s history, over $130,000 was solicited for in-kind donations and sponsorships to offset the cost of the festival.
“Each year we strive to make the Andouille Festival better and more appealing to traditional festival goers. We are thrilled to announce the 2015 Andouille Festival will be presented by Marathon Petroleum Company, the largest employer in the parish,” said Parish President Natalie Robottom. “This is a great opportunity for Marathon Petroleum Company to support an event that helps raise money for numerous schools, non-profit and for profit organizations throughout the parish. We look forward to a very successful festival and encourage the community to come out and enjoy a fun-filled weekend,” she added.
In addition to the partnership announcement, the 2015 Andouille Festival Print was unveiled. The hand-painted print was created by local artist Jamar Pierre representing food, music and Mother Nature in Louisiana. Pierre is a native of Edgard with over twenty years of professional visual art experience with a portfolio that encompasses corporate and private commissions, public murals, official posters, set design, album covers, and product advertising. While the tradition of creating festival prints was discontinued for a period of time, it was resurrected in 2013 for the 40th Anniversary of the Andouille Festival. “As a local artist I have a responsibility to inspire my audience to celebrate our ‘joie de vivre’ (enjoyment of life) while still showing respect to our waterways and historical southern Louisiana recipes,” said Pierre.
Following the unveiling, Robottom and Council Chairman Michael Wright presented Marathon Petroleum Company with the first signed festival print as a token of appreciation for their partnership. “On behalf of Marathon Petroleum Company, we are very excited to become the Andouille Festival's first ever title sponsor. Marathon Petroleum is committed to community involvement and we are thankful to Parish President Robottom for this opportunity to strengthen our ties even further in the community. We are looking forward to a great festival,” said Jaime De La Cruz, Marathon Petroleum Human Resources Manager.
Posters will be available for sale beginning Friday, September 18, 2015 at the St. John Parish Economic Development Department, Matherne’s Supermarket in LaPlace, Don’s Supermarket and Greg’s Supermarket in Reserve.
