Council Approves Annual Bids and Contracts

Tuesday night's council meeting included approval of annual bids and pre-employment reference checks. Contract extensions were approved for granular chlorine and inspection services for the Isaac Housing Repair Project.
The 2015 annual contract with Southern Chem Industries was renewed for one year to provide the Utilities Department with access to granular chlorine at a predetermined cost. The current contract included a one year option maintaining the same pricing. A one year no cost extension was also approved with Pivotal Engineering Services for inspection services for the CDBG Housing Project. Inspection services is a required component of the project and funding source.
The Council also authorized advertisement of bids for annual fuel requirements, sewer and water fittings, and water meters and registers. An agreement with Equifax Verification Services was approved for pre-employment reference checks of prospective employees. Costs are only incurred when employees' former employer has contracted with the service provider.
