Sales Tax Holiday Set for August 7 & 8, 2015

ST. JOHN THE BAPTIST PARISH – St. John the Baptist Parish will participate in Louisiana’s Annual Sales Tax Holiday on August 7 and August 8 by exempting 5% local sales tax in addition to the state’s 4% sales tax on the first $2,500 of the purchase price of tangible personal property for non-business use. The holiday will begin at 12:01 a.m. Friday, August 7, and continue through 11:50 p.m. Saturday, August 8.
The sales tax holiday does not apply to vehicles subject to title and license, meals prepared for consumption on premises or to-go, and taxable services such as hotel occupancy, laundry services, printing services, telecommunications services, furnishing of cold storage space, leases or rentals of tangible personal property, repairs to tangible personal property, and admission to athletic, amusement, or recreational facilities.
