St. John the Baptist Parish Holds Independence Day Celebrations

ST. JOHN THE BAPTIST PARISH — St. John the Baptist Parish is looking forward to hosting multiple events in celebration of Independence Day by honoring local veterans and holding its annual firework celebration. 

The 10th annual Veterans Luncheon will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, July 3 at the Louisiana Army National Guard Readiness Center, located at 4120 West Airline Highway in Reserve.  All veterans and their spouses are invited.

Local military members will be honored through a veterans tribute comprised of pictures of service members.  Following the luncheon, the video will be played on the Independence Day broadcast and on the parish’s website and Facebook page. 

The 15th annual Independence Day Celebration and Firework Show will take place Friday night, at St. Peter Catholic Church, located at 1550 River Road in Reserve, and West Bank residents are invited to join in on the fun at the St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, located at 2361 River Road in Edgard.

The celebrations will begin at 6 p.m., and a live broadcast of the event will air at 7 p.m. on the government accesses channel and the St. John the Baptist Parish website for residents to watch at home.

In preparation for the firework show at 9:00 p.m., the following intersections will close at approximately 8:45 p.m.:

  • River Rd at Central Ave, Reserve
  • River Rd at W. 10th St, Reserve
  • River Rd at Lapaloryie Ln, Reserve
  • West 8th St and Godchaux Ln, Reserve
  • Cop Dr and Railroad Ave, Reserve
  • Lapeyrolerie Dr.and LeBlanc Dr., Reserve
