ST. JOHN THE BAPTIST PARISH – Parish President Natalie Robottom, State Representative Clay Schexnayder, Council Members, staff and community members celebrated a ribbon cutting on Friday, June 19 for the new traffic signal at the intersection of US Hwy 54 and Airline Hwy in Garyville.
State Representative Clay Schexnayder, said “The residents of Reserve, Garyville and Mount Airy have been waiting to see this traffic signal for years. The light at this intersection will create a safer traffic path for the residents of St. John and the surrounding areas and we will see our traffic run smoother and more efficiently."
Parish President Robottom added, “With the safety of the public in mind, it is clear that teamwork moves mountains, and even though it may have taken many years, our staff and local leaders worked with the Department of Transportation and Development very closely to get this accomplished. We are pleased to see the signal is complete and caution motorists when approaching the light until drivers on Airline Hwy become accustom to the change.”
