Photos Requested for Independence Day Video Tribute

ST. JOHN THE BAPTIST PARISH - The 10th Annual St. John the Baptist Parish Veterans Luncheon will be held Friday, July 3, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at the Louisiana Army National Guard Readiness Center located at 4120 West Airline Highway in Reserve. St. John has honored local military members for the past two years by showing a video adorned with pictures of fallen service members. This tradition will be shown at the luncheon, live on the Independence Day broadcast and on St. John's website, and Facebook page.

Residents are asked to assist with the video by submitting photos of local veterans and service members. Photos in military uniforms are requested. Black and white and color photos will be accepted, but high resolution digital files are preferred. Original photos will also be accepted, but will become the property of St. John the Baptist Parish. Please include the veteran's name, rank and branch of the service with the photo, as well as the contact information and name of the family member submitting the photo. If a photo was submitted in the last two years, it is not necessary to submit a new photo.

The deadline to submit pictures is Friday, June 19 at 4:00 p.m. Photos can either be emailed to the Communications Department at or mailed to St. John Communications Department Attn: Veterans Tribute, 1801 W. Airline Hwy, LaPlace, LA 70068.

The 15th Annual Independence Day Celebration and firework show will take place on the evening of Friday, July 3 at St. Peter's Catholic Church, 1550 Highway 44, Reserve, LA and the St. John Courthouse, 2393 Louisiana 18, Edgard, LA. The celebration will begin at 6:00 p.m. and the live broadcast will air at 7:00 p.m. The firework show will start at 9:00 p.m. The East and West Bank celebrations will be broadcasted live on the government accesses channel for residents to watch at home.
