St. John Economic Development Partners with HUD for Free Grant Writing Training

ST. JOHN THE BAPTIST PARISH – The St. John Parish Economic Development Department is partnering with the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) to offer a free capacity building and grant writing workshop on Wednesday, April 29 and Thursday, April 30 from 8:30 a.m. to  4:30 p.m. at Regala Park Gymnasium.  

Personal instructors from HUD staff will be on hand to give attendees the important information needed to prepare a successful grant application, be more competitive for funding, secure a 501c3, and the organization structure necessary to secure public funds. Workbooks and certificates of completion will also be provided.

Other topics include:

  • ·         HUD programs available to nonprofits
  • ·         Performance Measurements
  • ·         Organizational Development
  • ·         Legal Do’s and Don’ts
  • ·         HUD common factors for award
  • ·         Working with local governments
  • ·         Coalition and capacity building
  • ·         Leveraging public/private funding

Registration is required and on a first-come, first-serve basis. Space is limited to 100 organizations and also to two individuals per organization/agency. Free parking is available on site at Regala Gym located at 200 Regala Park Rd. in Reserve.
