41st Annual Andouille Festival Poster Unveiling
Wednesday, October 8, 2014
St. John the Baptist Parish – The 41st Annual Andouille Festival Poster was unveiled on Saturday, October 4 at the St. John Andouille Pageant.
The hand-painted print was created by Edgard native and artist Jamar Pierre to reflect the cultural importance of the festival, including famous Andouille dishes and expressions of nostalgic festival history. “The poster is colorful, vibrant and reflective of diverse culinary experiences that make St. John home,” said Parish President Natalie Robottom. “It would make a great keepsake from this year's festival.”
Posters will be available for purchase the weekend of the festival at the Smokehouse General Store. Signed and numbered posters will be sold for $75.00 and unsigned posters for $25.00. A special combination price of $40.00 is being offered for both the 2013 and 2014 unsigned posters. The artist will be present at the festival to sign posters on Saturday and Sunday from 4-6 p.m.
In addition to the poster, the festival features great food, fun and a variety of music. The entertainment lineup for the Smokehouse Stage includes the New Birth Brass Band, Image, Louisiana Spice, Mojeaux, Rockin’ Dopsie Jr. & the Zydeco Twisters and more.
Advanced tickets for the Jazz Brunch are on sale now and ride bracelets are available for pre-sale. Festival Coordinators have implemented a number of contests including the Andouille Eating Contest, Gumbo Cook-off and an Apron Decorating Contest.
